I have been a volunteer at the Alfred since 2007. I love liaising with the students & to see the impact/transformation it has during the day.

The P.A.R.T.Y. Program volunteers come from a variety of backgrounds, and share the same goal; to prevent trauma in youth and make a difference in students’ lives. They contribute to the community by volunteering their time to assist with the running of the program; in particular escorting the participants around the hospital, while supporting and encouraging them throughout the day. The Volunteer Program Manager oversees the volunteers and the volunteer program.

This program is powerful, and informative, with an amazing team of doctors, nurses, coordinators.

My favourite part of the program is interacting with the students, and seeing them fascinated and responding to the different aspects of a patient’s journey through the hospital.

The emphasis of increasing awareness and educating vulnerable people was very appealing and the presentation of the program was very different to other programs I had seen.

I love how the program addresses barriers and stigmas around the issue of alcohol related trauma and educates youth in a fun and non-judgmental environment.
